Our Planet, Our Health

An educational campaign that explains the connections between climate and health.

For my final project, I explored the topic of planetary health and designed an informational campaign aimed at raising awareness among young adults about the health impacts of the climate crisis and making planetary health a topic of conversation. Planetary health is a scientific concept that describes how human health depends on the health of ecosystems. I came across this topic through a project in my previous semester, where I explored air quality in cities and its effects on the health and daily lives of the public. Thanks to another previous project on climate communication, I had already developed an interest in how design can contribute to climate communication. Like most people, I had never heard of the term Planetary Health before. I immersed myself deeply in the topic, discovered organizations, media formats and publications and conducted interviews. I soon realized that planetary health raises fundamental questions and affects all areas of our lives, our society and our politics. My position: The climate crisis and its effects on our health must not be allowed to fade into the background. They must have a place in public and private conversations and be considered in decisions both big and small.
